About Scott

Heart Attack Survivor, Registered Nurse, Ironman Finisher, Runner, Triathlete, Certified Coach

I was never much of an “athlete” growing up, When I was 26 my wife and I were watching the NYC Marathon on TV. I said to her, “you know what, I am going to run that next year.”I woke up the next day, went to the gym and could barely walk a mile on the treadmill. I was determined and read everything I could about training. 8 months later I finished the 1997 NYC Marathon in 4 hours and 22 minutes.

Fast forward to today, I have completed 17 marathons with a PB 3:15 Boston Qualifier in 2004. I have completed numerous 5Ks, 10Ks, Half-Marathons, and multiple triathlons of various distance up to and including the 2010 Ironman Lake Placid.

In 2022 I suffered a major heart attack 30 minutes after completing a 13-mile trail run and was rushed to the hospital. Doctors told me if I waited 5 minutes longer, I might not have made it. While still recovering in the ICU, I told my Cardiologist that I wanted to return to competition and complete a half-ironman triathlon within one year. He introduced me to a sport-specific cardiologist who told me it was possible. I spent the better part of 2023 proving I can train and race again. Fast forward 54 weeks, I completed Ironman 70.3 New York in 5:25 and in the top third of all finishers.

This experience really made me contemplate life, keeping stress minimized, do what you love and love what you do. It is with this in mind that I have set out on this journey of coaching others.

Join me and we can take this journey together while we learn from each other and become better athletes and runners.
